Abstracting the Moor (1)

Living on the Moor, Dartmoor has been a constant subject for me. I have explored many approaches to representing the landscapes and moods of this place.

My favourite approaches are my highly textural pieces, developed in my time in art class at Exeter Pheonix. Using scrap cloth, particularly hessian sack, over layered with paint and charcoal, I enjoyed the play of letting the Moor I love come to life in the studio.

As I write this I notice just how much of my work involves collage and found material, mixed with acrylics and found objects. That rich mix feels important to me in what I am making here.
